Leona Anna Emilee Lantto, age 90, of Annandale, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at the Annandale Care Center.
She was born March 8, 1922, in New Avon Township, Redwood County, to Emil and Anna (Struckmann) Raddatz.
Leona was a 1941 graduate of Wabasso High School, and then went to beauty college.
She married Leo N. Lantto Jan. 2, 1943, in Redwood Falls, and he preceded her in death Aug. 1, 1988.
For many years, Leona was a teacher at 916 Vo-Tech School in White Bear Lake. She lived in Minneapolis from 1941, until moving to the Annandale area in 1984.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale, volunteered at Camp Friendship, and participated in Thursday morning ladies’ golf at Southbrook. Leona also enjoyed activities with her grandchildren, crocheting, and sewing.
She is survived by her children, Janice (Dale) Carlson of Annandale, Jack of Brooklyn Park, James (Diane) of Elk River, and Jerald (Karen) of Clearwater; 10 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.
Her husband, Leo; a daughter, Joanne; and several brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services took place Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale with the Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Music was provided by Mark and Ardis Nelson and Orma Lou Jacobsma. Burial was at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.
There was visitation prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.
Pallbearers were Michael and Daniel Carlson, Laura, Peter, and Neil Lantto, and Rachel Glunz.
