Leonard Martin Matousek, age 95, of Winsted, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born July 24, 1917, in Rich Valley Township, the son of Joseph L. and Frances Ardolf Matousek.
Leonard attended school through the eighth grade.
He honorably served his country in the US Army during World War II.
Leonard was joined in holy marriage to Marion E. Pesina June 21, 1948.
He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, and also belonged to The Winsted American Legion Post 407.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marion; sister-in-law Carol Navratil of Silver Lake; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Bessie Bandas and brother-in-law John Bandas, and Alice Streachek and brother-in-law Edward Streachek; a godchild, Annette Bandas; a nephew, Raymond Bandas Sr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law Theodore and Mary Pesina; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harvey and Evelyn Pesina; and brother-in-law Gerald Navratil.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Tony Stubeda, Father Eugene Brown, and Father Paul Schumacher were concelebrants for the Mass. Interment with military rites followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Visitation was Sunday, July 29 from 4-8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a rosary recitation at 4 p.m., parish prayers at 6 p.m., and an American Legion Ritual at 7 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were godchildren Wendy Bauman, Joan McCullough, Sheri Repesh and Dan Navratil; and grand nephew Joe Bandas.
Casket bearers were Michael Lhotka, Gene Streachek, Burnett Wawrzyniak, Barb Wraspir, Glen Smida, and Alan Piehl.
