Sandra (Sandee) Jodele Mattson, age 61, of Hutchinson, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the Hutchinson Community Hospital.
She was born July 26, 1950, in Melrose, the oldest daughter of Merle and Lorraine (Bailey) Olson.
Sandee received her education in Sauk Centre, and graduated from Hutchinson High School.
Sandee married the love of her life, Richard Mattson of Dassel, June 28, 1969, at Hutchinson Assembly of God. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Lynn, Bethani, and Jodee; and six grandchildren.
Dick and Sandee resided in Hutchinson and shared 42 years of marriage. Theirs was an amazing example of a Godly, Christ-centered marriage.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Sandee worked eight years at 3M in Hutchinson, and went on to work 33 years at Riverside Assembly of God. She was also involved in many different ministries at Riverside including serving as Sunday school superintendent, and as a Sunday school teacher.
Sandee enjoyed reading, puzzles, and dinner with her parents and sisters, and always treasured her time with her children and grandchildren. Dick and Sandeel loved to travel to see their kids and grandkids, taking the time to take each grandchild to California for a special week with Grandma, Papa, and Auntie Lynn. They made memories for a lifetime.
Sandee went to be with the lover of her soul May 5, and is now free, seeing everything her heart desired. She leaves behind a legacy and a heritage that reaches far beyond her immediate family, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Sandee is survived by her parents, Merle and Lorraine Olson of Hutchinson; husband, Richard Mattson of Hutchinson; children, Lynn Mattson of San Jose, CA, Bethani Rittgers (Timothy) of Broken Arrow, OK, and Jodee Patchett (Matthew) of Toledo, OH; and grandchildren Brianna, Jordan, and Zachary Rittgers, and Isabella, Ethan and Avery Patchett.
She is further survived by sisters, Shari Crouse (Sheldon), Judy Olson, and Shelly Scott (Kent); brother Phil Olson (Linda); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and Riverside, Royal Rangers, and FCF Family.
Sandee was preceded in death by her foster brother, David Maag.
A Celebration of Sandee’s life took place Thursday, May 10, at 11 a.m. at Riverside Assembly of God in Hutchinson, with interment at Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson. Dr. Lee Allison officiated at the celebration, and Pastor Don and Sherri Prewitt led worship.
Honorary bearers were Tim Olson, Nick Olson, Colin Foley, and Laura Olson.
Casket bearers were Duane Mattson, David Stuber, Dan Stuber, Tyler Scott, Cory Sullivan, Greg Olson, Matt Scott, and Ryan Crouse.
