Lucille E. Melquist, 86

Lucille Eleanor Ruge Melquist, age 86, of Middleville Township, Cokato, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at her home.

She was born March 19, 1926, in Albion Township of Wright County, to Hans and Della (Stueven) Ruge, and grew up on the family farm in Albion Township. Lucille was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed Church of Maple Lake.

Her first job was at Albion country store, where she worked for $1 a day.

Lucy worked for a time at Northrop King in Minneapolis, Northland Canning, and Johnson Produce in Cokato. Most of all, she raised her family and worked with Virgil on the farm.

She enjoyed dancing (polka and waltz), cooking, and quilting (she made quilts for each one of her grandchildren), and she always had a large garden that was well kept.

Lucille especially loved her family and her church and carried the love of Jesus in her heart all her life.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Virgil; sons Duane (Mary) of Cokato, and Daryl (Linda) of Eden Prairie; grandchildren Damon (Tresha) Melquist, Stephanie (Dan) Robertson, Michelle Melquist, all of Cokato; Amber (Tom) Lacina of Shakopee, and Kalie Melquist of Saint Paul; and great-grandchildren Kenzie, Kylie, and Kasey Melquist, Olivia, Gabrielle, and Raquel Robertson, and Adalyn, and Sawyer Lacina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Della Ruge; and a sister, Florence Knuth.
