Mildred Mary Francis Delfino Meyer, age 93, of Winsted, and formerly of Madison, WI, went home to the Lord, Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted. Mildred is the mother of Mary Neff of Winsted.
She was born Sept. 14, 1919, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Louis Delfino and Jennie Rossi Delfino.
Mildred was a graduate of Chicago State University.
She married George E. Meyer Sept. 14, 1946.
Mildred loved children, and was a teacher for 17 years in Wisconsin. After her retirement, she volunteered in after-school tutoring programs in Wisconsin, and school reading programs in Winsted.
She moved to Linden Wood Apartments in Winsted, in 1999; and to Heritage Place in Cokato, in 2010.
Mildred was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
She will always be remembered for her happy smile, optimistic attitude, kind words, and spunky sense of humor. Mildred will be dearly missed by her family.
She is survived by two sisters, Bernadette McIntyre and Norma Nelson; children Gena Meyer, Mary (Jim) Neff, and George N. (Barbara) Meyer; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great, great-grandchild.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband George Meyer in 1988; and by a son-in-law, Larry Stamm.
Visitation took place Sunday, Nov. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Father Paul Schumacher officiated. Interment was Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. at Hallman Cemetery in Montello, WI, Harris Township.
