Delores Arlene Kosek Miller, age 80, of Silver Lake, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
She was born April 16, 1932, in Hale Township, McLeod County, the daughter of Frank and Kathryn Nowak Kosek. Delores was the oldest child of the Kosek family, and grew up on the family’s farm.
Delores Kosek and Melvin Miller were joined in holy marriage April 27, 1957, at the rectory of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
In 1966, Delores and Melvin moved to their home by Swan Lake. Delores sold their home after Melvin passed away in 2008.
Delores was formerly employed as a line worker at 3M for many years.
She enjoyed playing cards, pull tabs, owls, shopping, canning, gardening, making pickles, bingo, dancing, and fishing.
Delores was always considerate, generous, kind, and loving.
She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
Delores is survived by four brothers: Leonard (Liz) Kosek of Winsted, Clemens (Verona) Kosek, Edward Kosek, and Roger Kosek, all of Silver Lake; a sister, Darlene (Milo) Babatz of Longville; sisters-in-law Magdaline Miller of Silver Lake, Arlene Satterlee of Cokato, and Arvilla Miller of Eden Valley; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Melvin, Delores was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Arlene Kosek; sister-in-law Mary Jane Kosek; a brother-in-law, Melvin’s twin brother, Marvin Miller; and by a niece, Lori Poetz.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with Father Tony Stubeda and Father Patrick Okonkwo as the concelebrants.Interment followed at Holy Family Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Visitation was Monday, Sept. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. A CCW rosary was recited at 6 p.m., and parish prayers were at 7 p.m.
Casket bearers were David Kosek, Michael Kosek, Dustin Diers, Sam Pany, Jason Babatz, and Mark Kosek.
