Janice “Jan” Dorothy (Lamp) Moller, age 73, of Lester Prairie, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born Sept. 15, 1939, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Osmek) Lamp. Janice was baptized as an infant Oct. 1, 1939, by Father P. C. Moloney at Church of St. George in Glencoe; and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth.
She received her education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School class of 1957. Janice furthered his education by attending St. Cloud Beauty School in St. Cloud, MN.
Janice was united in marriage to James Moller June 20, 1960, by Father John Ward at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. The couple made their home in Silver Lake, Lakefield, and Lester Prairie over the past 35 years. They were blessed with three children, Pamela, David and Peter; and shared over 52 years of marriage.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Jan was a beautician. She worked at a beauty shop in Norwood for a few years before opening a shop known as Moller Manor in Lester Prairie with her husband, Jim. Jan was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Minnesota, where she was an active member and past president of the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a part of the Hutchinson Clown Club, and loved to entertain others.
Jan enjoyed reading, playing cards, dancing and music, especially Elvis. She also loved their Visla dogs and was a proud midwife of many litters. Jan especially cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
When Jan needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Moller of Lester Prairie; children, Pamela Moller, David Moller, both of Hutchinson, and Peter “Pete” Moller of Lester Prairie; granddaughter Jessica Moller of Prior Lake; sisters Deanna Simons and her husband, Joe, of Kasson, and LaVonne Falling and her husband, Lyle, of Burnsville; sisters-in-law Dr. Judith Lamp of New Brighton, Irene Katula of Clarissa, Eva Schmitz and her husband, Tony, of Wadena, and Lorraine Wroge and her husband, Harold, of Eagle Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Lamp; a brother, Frank Lamp; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Moller.
Memorial services took place Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m.. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with Father Eugene Brown and Father Paul Schumacher officiating. Organist was Alice Nowak. Musical selections included “Here I Am Lord,” “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman,” “Gift Of Finest Wheat,” and “Amazing Grace.” Jessica Moller was the urn bearer. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
