Cordella “Cory” D. Morschen, age 73, of Chaska, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.
She was born Aug. 12, 1938, in Hollywood Township, New Germany, the daughter of Hugo and Helen (Lueck) Kohls. Cordella was baptized at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, and later confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown Township.
Cordella was united in marriage to Franklin M. Morschen July 1, 1973, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown Township by the Rev. R.J. Mueller. This marriage was blessed with two children.
Cordella graduated from model and beautician school, and later worked for Travelers Inc.
She enjoyed dancing, and old tyme music, loved to socialize, enjoyed playing jokes on everyone, and just loved to laugh.
A loving wife, mother, and grandma, for Cordella, family always came first.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; father and mother, Hugo and Helen Kohls; sister Viona “Vi” Lahr; brother Earlan Kohls; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gloria Kohls, Kenneth Schuette, and Earl Lahr; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Helen Morschen; and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Morschen.
Cordella is survived by her loving family; daughters and son-in-law, Julie and Dave Violet of Chaska, and Jody Kohls of Jordan; granddaughter Lauren Kennelly; sister and brother-in-law, Eldoras and Mike Schuette of Mayer; brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Susan Kohls of Delano; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Beatrice Morschen of Chaska, Sylvester and Ruth Morschen of Cologne, Lorraine and Vernon Olson, and Vernon and Joanne Morschen, all of Chaska; an aunt, Leona Latzig of Waconia; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Wednesday May 2 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chaska with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the funeral service.
Casket bearers were Ryan Kohls, Scott Kohls, Mike McGowen, Randy Jopp, Bob Jopp, and Larry Kassulker.
