Hazel Christine Parten, age 88, of Winsted, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Tyler, MN, the daughter of Hans W. and Karine Johnsen Nicholsen.
Hazel and John A. Parten were joined in holy marriage Sept. 22, 1949, in Redwood Falls.
Hazel was formerly employed for many years as a legal secretary at the Genty Law Office in Winsted.
She was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted.
Hazel also belonged to the Winsted Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Parten of Hayward, WI; nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Parten Sept. 30, 2005; her parents; and siblings Terman, Marie, Julius, Edna, and Signa.
Funeral services took place Friday, Aug. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted with the Rev. Mark Loder officiating. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, and continued Friday at the church, one hour prior to services.
Honorary casket bearer was Harold Nicholsen.
Casket bearers were Hans Nicholsen, Ralph Nicholsen, Harold Parten, Bob Parten, Jerry Parten and Bryan DeSchepper.
