Dale F. Patnode Obituary – 7/21/2012


Dale Frank Patnode, age 78, of Minneapolis, formerly of Corcoran, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Hennepin County Medical Center.

He was born July 2, 1934, in Corcoran, the son of Louis and Mabel Zahler Patnode.

Dale honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956, and was stationed in Germany.

Dale was joined in holy marriage with Patricia A. Hagen June 13, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Medicine Lake. God blessed their marriage with five children.

Dale engaged in dairy farming for several years near Corcoran. He also owned and operated Patnode’s General Store in Corcoran for 16 years.

The Patnode family sold vegetable produce at The Farmer’s Market on Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis for more than 40 years.

Dale also formerly worked at Honeywell.

He was a lifelong member of The Church of St. Thomas The Apostle in Corcoran.

Dale formerly belonged to the Corcoran Lions Club, and to Hamel American Legion Post 394.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia “Pat;” children: Dannea Bermel (Roger Schalo) of Moundsview, Dennis Patnode of Minneapolis, Michael Patnode, Gary (Connie) Patnode, all of Corcoran, and Christine (Jason) Majeski of Rockford; grandchildren: Brett and Eric Patnode, Alexis, Bria and Cassie Majeski, Sheree Bermel, Shelly Bermel and Bobbi Jo Henricks; Dennis, Courtney, Jeremy and Josh; great-grandchildren; and great- great-grandchildren.

Dale is further survived by a sister, Diane Morin of Buffalo; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Tommy and Terry; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otto and Deloris Hagen.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Corcoran, with Father John A. Gallas as the celebrant. Interment with military rites was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday, July 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and continued Wednesday one hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Casket bearers were Jason Majeski, Brett Patnode, Eric Patnode, Chris Hagen, David Hagen, and Paul Hagen.
