Fred ‘Fritz’ Segner Obituary – 11/15/2012


Fred F. “Fritz” Segner, age 86, of St. Bonifacius, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.

He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in St. Bonifacius, the son of Fred and Rose (Schmidt) Segner. Fred was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius.

He was united in marriage to Dianne Maas Sept. 26, 1953, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, by Father Wohlfort.

Fritz was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He enjoyed going up north to the cabin, hunting, fishing, and just being on the lake boating around.

He served as president of NWA Ford Fraternity.

Fred and Dianne loved to spend time together traveling to many different destinations. Fritz especially liked making a trip to Mystic Lake on different occasions. He had an appreciation for many various kinds of music.

Fred was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Segner; parents Fred and Rose Segner; father-in-law and mother-in-law Louie and Lorraine Maas; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gordon Bezdichek, Robert and Rose Maas, LaVonne Maas OSB, Jerry Hilgers, Don Moonen, and John Nalevanko.

He is survived by his loving family: wife Dianne; children and spouses Mark and Rebecca Segner of Waconia, Joel and Kimberly Segner of St. Croix Falls, WI, Julie and Fred Gongoll of Mayer, and Jeffrey Segner of Hinckley; daughter-in-law Sylvia Segner of Arizona; grandchildren Kristin and Eric Iverson, Rachel and Luke Thunberg, David Gongoll, Rianna Segner, Shane Segner, Stephen and Shaina Segner, Martha Segner, Bethany Segner, and Kathryn Segner; and great-grandchildren Leighton Iverson, Warner Iverson, and Graham Thunberg.

Fritz is further survived by a sister, Connie Bezdichek and friend Don Rose of Farmington; brother and sister-in-law Lee and Arlene Segner of Arizona; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Eileen Nalevanko of Long Lake, Leon and Carol Maas of St. Bonifacius, Marilyn Hilgers of Waconia, Arlys and Don Knopick of Crystal, Bonnie Moonen of St. Bonifacius; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius with Father Tom Balluff as celebrant of the Mass.

Visitation was Monday, Nov. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. and continued Tuesday, Nov. 20 for one hour prior to the Mass, all at the church. Interment was at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Shane Segner, Stephen Segner, David Gongoll, Mark Segner, Jeff Segner, and Joel Segner.
