Linda L. Shrode Obituary – 3/11/2012

Linda Lue Shrode, age 64, of Nevada, formerly of Hutchinson and Litchfield, died peacefully Sunday, March 11, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m. at Waconia Moravian Church, 209 East 2nd Street, Waconia.

Linda was born July 1, 1947, in Hutchinson, the daughter of John C. and Bernice (Hagen) Bahr. She was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith in Hutchinson, and later confirmed in her faith at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Comfrey.

Growing up, Linda received her education at a Comfrey rural country school and high schools at Comfrey and New Ulm. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1965.

Linda was united in marriage to Douglas Kenneth Shrode Oct. 16, 1975, in Black Duck. This marriage was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Rhonda Kay.

The family made their home in Hutchinson and Litchfield, and then moved to Carson City, NV in 1986.

Linda held employment through the years at 3M, HTI, and LPC in Minnesota, as well as working as a real estate agent and an accountant in Nevada. This prepared her to be Doug’s partner in their independent business, EDMAC, in 1992.

Linda was the “left” hand of the machine shop business, where she did many jobs. She and Doug enjoyed building their business together and the friendships these years brought them.

Linda enjoyed bowling with both her Nevada and Minnesota friends, especially all the trips to nationals. Her hobbies included reading, solving the Sunday crossword puzzle, scrapbooking, and card making.

Together, Linda and Doug enjoyed competitive pistol shooting, as well as taking many road trips in their vintage Porsche.

Linda loved visiting her family in Minnesota and just spending time with relatives, playing with her granddaughters, cards, dominoes, and Guitar Hero, as well as taking pictures of all of this for her scrapbooks.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, with a wonderful sense of humor, who loved to laugh. She chose the sunny side of life, even through her years of battling cancer.

Linda always had two dogs by her side, and they brought her both comfort and joy.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents, John C. and Bernice Bahr; and a sister, Jane Hoff.

Linda is survived by her husband, Doug; her daughter, Rhonda (Shrode) Tesch; son-in-law Timothy Tesch; grandchildren Rachel, Nicole and Kendal Tesch; a brother, John J. and his wife, Sue Bahr; many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and the family’s loving dogs, Starr and Billet.
