George H. Stackard Obituary – 11/9/2012


George H. Stackard, age 84, of Buffalo, formerly of Big Lake and Waverly, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Buffalo.

He was born July 1, 1928, in Waverly, the son of Henry and Mary (Mertz) Stackard. George graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Waverly in 1947.

During his junior year, he started working for a neighboring farmer, and worked there for 17 years until his asthma forced him to quit. His next job was at Advance Machines in Plymouth, and he worked there for 23 years, until his retirement in 1990.

George lived in Arizona during the winter months.

He is survived by a sister, Dorothy (Harold) Hultgren of Monticello; nephew Gordy (Terri) Hultgren of Two Harbors; nieces Carol (Ron) Eastbourne of Hamel, and Bonnie (Dave) Gearau of Two Harbors; and many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Stackard.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo, with a time of gathering at the church Wednesday morning, one hour prior to Mass. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Buffalo.

Arrangements were by the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
