Lucille E. Stender, age 90, of Waconia, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Watertown, the daughter of William and Alma (Schultz) Lindenberg. Lucille was baptized in Watertown, and later confirmed in the Christian faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township.
Lucille was united in marriage to Herbert H. Stender Oct. 15, 1937, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hollywood Twp. by the Rev. Ernst.
Lucille cherished the time she had with her family; they were very important to her. She loved to cook and make meals for her family and friends. You would often find her stopping for a garage sale, or watching All Star Wrestling, and she was a big Danny O’Donnell fan.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Stender; a son, Sidney Stender; a grandson, Troy Stender; a daughter-in-law, Dorene Stender; her parents, William and Alma Lindenberg; and brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her loving family; children, Sheldon Stender of Mayer, Stan (Darlene) Stender of Watertown, Susan (Ron) Hartwig of Mayer, and Scott (Kim) Stender of Cologne; grandchildren Todd Stender, Tami and Todd Moeller, Gail and Bob Gallus, Kathy and Doug Topp, Gary Stender, Michael and Sarah Hartwig, Nicholas and Jennifer Hartwig, Jody Miller, Jason and Penny Stender, Jenny Wolff, Kory Stender, and Kyle Stender; and great-grandchildren Andy, Nicole, Katelyn, Cora, Alex, Emilee, Jared, Halle, Zach, Ashley, Jody, Jason, Jenny, Natalie, Caleb, Devyn, Coy, Makenzie, Amanda, Michael, Ryan, Josh, and Jacob.
Lucille is further survived by a sister-in-law, Gertrude Stender of Norwood Young America; brother-in-law Bill Zellmann of Moose Lake; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Gale Reitan officiating. There was visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Lucille’s grandsons, Gary Stender, Todd Stender, Kory Stender, Kyle Stender, Michael Hartwig, Nicholas Hartwig, and Jason Stender.
