Mark Duane Swart, age 44, of Steamboat Rock, IA, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012.
He was born Nov. 22, 1967, in Iowa Falls, IA, the son of Duane and Susan (Kurth) Swart.
Mark graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1986, and Ellsworth Community College in 1987. He went on to the University of Iowa in 1995, and graduated from Iowa State University in 1997, with a degree in agriculture management.
Mark was united in marriage to Michele (Shelly) Hendrickson Feb. 8, 2002, in Key Largo, FL. Michelle is the daughter of Bob and Nancy Hendrickson of Kingston, MN.
Mark was passionate about farming, deer hunting, the outdoors, and spending time with his family at the home he built on the Iowa River. He was loved, and will be missed by many.
Mark is survived by his wife, Michele, of Steamboat Rock, IA; his son, Jake Swart of Steamboat Rock; his daughter, Cheyanne Swart of Steamboat Rock; his parents, Duane and Susan Swart of Iowa Falls; and two brothers, John Swart and his wife, Tina and their children, Nathan and Eric of Gilbert, IA; and Dale Swart and his daughter, Brenna of Iowa Falls.
Jack was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Funeral services took place Thursday, Feb. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls, IA, with the Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Pianist was Marian Smith.
Casket bearers were Mike Broer, Shawn Frerichs, Keith Spangler, and Robert Warner.
The Surls Funeral Home of Iowa Falls handled the arrangements. A memorial fund has been established for his children, and may be directed to his wife, Michele.
