Donald Gilbert Trick, age 69, of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, formerly of Carver County, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, in Taiwan.
He was born May 5, 1943, in Carver County, the son of Emma (Trick) St. John and Julius Trick Sr. Donald was confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Excelsior.
He was united in marriage to Irene Yang March 23, 2003, in Taiwan.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, and uncle.
In September 1961, Don joined the United States Navy and served for 30 years, before retiring in September 1991, as a master chief.
In October 1996, Don moved to Taiwan, where he was employed until his passing for VSE Corporation, working on the same ships that he served on in the Navy.
Don was preceded in death by his mother, Emma (Trick) St. John; father Julius Trick Sr.; brother Julius Trick Jr.; and grandparents Ernest and Elise Koehler.
He is survived by his loving family; wife Irene Trick, son Julius Gilbert Trick; daughters Tina Trick, Jenny and Eric Sung; grandchildren Christina and Elise Sung; all of Taiwan; sister Diane Bowman of Fort Worth, TX; niece Stacy and Mike Boatman, also of Fort Worth; a great-niece and nephew, and other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service took place Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with the Rev. John Zahrte officiating. There was visitation one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment was at Woodside Cemetery in Shorewood.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
