Marcella Vanderlinde, 90

Marcella A. Vanderlinde, age 90, of Watertown, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the Elim Home in Watertown.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius, with Father Tom Balluff as celebrant of the Mass. Interment will be at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, St. Bonifacius.

Casket bearers will be Brian Erhard, Charlie Storms, Peter Storms, RT Vanderlinde, Tony Schepers, Will Schepers, Troy Vanderlinde, and Shaun Bauer.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church Fellowship Hall, and will continue Thursday, one hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Marcella was born June 7, 1922, in Cologne, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Tellers) Wickenhauser. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne.

Marcella was united in marriage to Edmund Vanderlinde Nov. 16, 1948, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marcella loved to crochet and quilt baby blankets and hand towels. She was active in the senior citizens group, and belonged to the lunch bunch group.

One of her favorite things to do was getting together with family and friends. She also enjoyed reading books, especially the Chicken Soup books.

Marcella loved to visit and speak German to anyone who could understand the language. She would enjoy a Sunday afternoon listening to old tyme music, and took great pride in taking part on the funeral lunch committee at her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund; a daughter, Ann; sons-in-law Jim Bauer and Tim Johnson; parents William and Elizabeth Wickenhauser; sisters Mildred Wickenhauser, Ruth Ebert; a brother, Clarence Wickenhauser; father-in-law and mother-in-law Anton and Frances Vanderlinde; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norbert and Margaret Vanderlinde, Alphonse Vanderlinde, Florentine and Alex Hauwiller, Andrew and Dorothy Vanderlinde, Jerome Vanderlinde, Lloyd Ebert, and Joe Griebel.

Marcella is survived by her loving family; children and spouses Betty and Greg Erhard of Olathe, KS, Judy and Jim Storms of Cologne, Tom and Marcy Vanderlinde, Frances Vanderlinde, all of Watertown, Mary and Bruce Schepers of Savage, Leon and Heidi Vanderlinde, Bea Bauer, all of Watertown, Jerry Vanderlinde of Lake Bronson, Theresa Johnson of St Paul, Dan and Dorine Vanderlinde of Mayer, Rich Vanderlinde of Watertown, and Janet and Chad Banken of Chanhassen; and grandchildren: Ron and Rebecca Erhard, Jim and Erin Erhard, Brian Erhard, Kevin and Machiko Erhard, Charlie and Mary Storms, Anne Storms, Peter and Emilie Storms, Michael and Jenny Storms, RT Vanderlinde, Samantha and Courtney Zellmann, Liz and Doug Slavens, Tony, Will and Nick Schepers, Lindsay Vanderlinde and Nate Swing, Troy Vanderlinde, Courtney Vanderlinde and friend MJ. Iverson, Shaun Bauer and friend Brittani Kusske, Amanda Bauer and fiancé Mitch Boll, Alice Vanderlinde, Brock, and Chase and Cade Banken.

She is further survived by great-grandchildren: Samantha and Joel Weaver, Billy Erhard, Aidan, Elliott and Jamie Erhard, Alexandra, Tanner and Jake Storms, Mason Storms, Asher Storms, Briahna Nemitz, Taylor, Ruby and Henry Slavens, and Harland Bauer; sisters Luella Griebel of Sleepy Eye, and Clarissa Wickenhauser of Mankato; sisters-in-law Muriel Wickenhauser of Cologne, Harriet Vanderlinde, and Rosemary Vanderlinde both of St. Bonifacius.
