Rachel Faith Walberg, age 90, of Annandale, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at the Annandale Care Center.
She was born Dec. 17, 1921, at home in French Lake to Jacob and Anna (Nicka) Lantto. Rachel graduated from Cokato High School.
She was united in marriage to Lloyd Walberg Oct. 11, 1941, in Minneapolis.
Rachel owned and operated Rachel’s Café in South Haven prior to moving to Backus, where she worked as a nurse’s assistant at Aw-Guah-Ching Sanitorium in Walker.
Rachel enjoyed playing cards, listening to Minnesota Twin’s baseball, crocheting, and spending time with family.
She is survived by her children, Judith Hultgren of Superior, WI, Michael of Chaska, and Patricia (Richard) Ryan of Brainerd; sisters Betty Jane (Clinton) Lambert of Buffalo, and Viola Frederick of Annandale; brother Kenny (Barb) Lantto of Edina; 12 grandchildren, Scott, Christopher, Patrick, Douglas, Chad, Pamela, Tonya, Michelle, Stephanie, Christopher, Erik, and Cassandra; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd; a daughter, Shirlee Fieldseth; a son-in-law, Craig Hultgren; 10 brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services took place Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale with the Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Orma Lou Jacobs provided the music for the service. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery, French Lake.
Friends called Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, with a prayer service at 5 p.m.; and one hour prior to the service, Wednesday, at the church.
Pallbearers were Christopher and Erik Walberg, and Scott, Christopher, Patrick, Douglas and Chad Hultgren.
