Randy J. “Zig” Zellmann, age 50, of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday July 17, 2012, at his home.
He was born March 11, 1962, in Waconia, the son of Ronald J. and Carol A. (Brandenburg) Zellmann. Randy was baptized March 25, 1962, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown by the Rev. L. Wetzel; and confirmed May 2, 1976, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown by the Rev. Donald Taylor.
Randy truly loved to be in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. At any family function, he would always be the head chef. He had a special connection with his nieces and nephews, taking them to the store when their parents weren’t aware and spoiling them rotten with anything they wanted.
The life of the party, Randy had fun with everyone, putting a smile on many a face. He was always helping out others with projects around their homes through his woodworking and brick-laying capabilities. His uniform code for daily tasks was to be dressed in his Carhartt’s.
Randy loved to dance with his mother on many different occasions. He referred to himself as the big shooter.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret and Herman Zellmann; Edwin Brandenburg; and great-niece Avery Sinclair.
Randy is survived by his loving family; father and mother, Ronald and Carol Zellmann of Watertown; siblings and spouses, Kim and Brent Lange of Buffalo, Jolean and Tim Hecksel, Rick and Jody Zellmann, all of Watertown, and Sue and Brandon Heinzen of Delano; nieces and nephews Bridgett, Elizabeth, Trista, Samantha, Haylee, Nathan, Jack, Kylee, and Jake; great-niece Lauren; great-nephews Blake and Vincent; and special buddies Ben and Andy.
He was further survived by his grandmother, Lorraine Brandenburg of Watertown; uncles and aunts Jesse Zellmann of Washington, Sharon and Gary Anderson of Plymouth, Gary and Kristie Brandenburg of Waconia, and Dennis and Kim Brandenburg of Howard Lake; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Saturday July 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Donald Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Watertown Public Cemetery.
Urn bearer was Randy Herrmann. Honorary urn bearers were Tom Burns, Phil Maiers, Bob Gallus, Rick Lyzhoft, Randy Knott, and Joe Lynch.
There was a gathering of family and friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at church.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
