Lorna L. Blauert, age 90, of Montrose, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Independence, the daughter of Robert and Fredricka (Kutz) Barfknecht.
Lorna was united in marriage to Wilmar Blauert April 9, 1941, in Minneapolis.
Lorna farmed with her husband, south of Montrose, during her lifetime.
She liked to read, tend to her flower and vegetable gardens, and go fishing. Lorna especially loved her cows and cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmar; son-in-law Rodney Wendlandt; sisters Minnie Luffey, Ida Dalbec, Agnes Offerman, Louise Soley, Olga Anderson and Alma Ehalt; and brothers Albert, Gustav, and Ernest Barfnecht.
Lorna is survived by her loving family; sons and daughters-in-law Gerald and Catherine Blauert of Maple Plain, and Ronald and Louise Blauert of Watertown; daughter Susan Wendlandt of Brownton; grandchildren Debora (Kirby) Smith, Anthony (Laurie) Blauert, William (Ellen) Blauert, and Patrick (Brandy) Blauert; great-grandchildren Nicholas (Jennifer) Smith, Heather Smith, Jessica Blauert, Jacklyn Blauert, Kaylee Blauert, and Bryton Blauert; great-great-grandchildren Mackinley Blauert, and Wyatt Smith; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A private funeral service took place at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, followed by interment in the Watertown Public Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Jessica Blauert, Nicholas Smith, Patrick Blauert, William Blauert, Gerald Blauert, Ronald Blauert, Susan Wendlandt, and Debora Smith.
