Lorraine Brandenburg, 93

Lorraine A. Brandenburg, age 93, of Waconia, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at the Elim Nursing Home in Watertown.

She was born Sept. 6, 1920, in St. Paul, the daughter of William and Laura (Bevesdorf) Wessbecker. Lorraine was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia.

She was united in marriage with Edwin Brandenburg in 1941, and this union was blessed with four children, Carol, Sharon, Gary, and Dennis.

Lorraine and Edwin farmed in rural Waconia.

After the death of her husband, Lorraine moved into Waconia.

She had worked a short time for Tonka Toys, and was a dedicated farm wife and mother.

Lorraine enjoyed knitting and embroidery and sharing the items she made with family. She liked to garden and do canning, play cards and bingo, and complete crossword puzzles.

She cherished the time spent with family, especially her many grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Edwin Brandenburg, Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and William Wessbecker; a grandchild, Randy Zellmann; great-great-grandchild Avery Sinclair; and son-in-law Danny Theis.

She is survived by her loving family: daughters and sons-in-law Carol and Ron Zellmann of Watertown, and Sharon and Gary Anderson of Plymouth; sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Kristie Brandenburg of Waconia, and Dennis and Kim Brandenburg of Howard Lake; and grandchildren Kim and Brent Lange, Jolean and Tim Hecksel, Rick and Jody Zellmann, Susan and Brandon Heinzen, Jon Theis, Jenny Miller, Josh Brandenburg, Joe Brandenburg, Jennifer and Jeremy Doroff, Michelle Brandenburg, and John Brandenburg.

Lorraine is further survived by great-grandchildren Elizabeth Lange, Bridgett and Scott Sinclair, Trista Hecksel, Samantha Hecksel, Haylee Hecksel, Nate Zellmann, Jack Zellmann, Kylee Heinzen, Jake Heinzen, Lashay Theis, Parker Theis, Nicole Miller, Tim Miller, and Brody Doroff; great-great-grandchildren Blake and Vincent Sinclair, and Lauren Hecksel; step-grandchildren Derek Anderson, and Kara Anderson; step-great-grandchildren Karin, Mason, and Renea Anderson; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, followed by interment in the church cemetery. There was visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m., until the time of the service at the church.

Casket bearers were Rick Zellmann, Jon Theis, Josh Brandenburg, Joe Brandenburg, John Brandenburg, Tim Miller, and Parker Theis.
