Fred was born April 8, 1937, the third son of Clella and Alby Brown. Raised on a farm with four brothers, he attended country school until eighth grade, and then went to Franklin Public School.
Fred dated one girl, Jeannette, and they went steady all through high school and married at age 18. The couple was blessed with five children.
From 1956-1968, Fred worked in Redwood County as a telephone lineman. He then went on to become an electrician, moving to New Ulm in 1971.
In 1990, Fred was offered the job of state electrical inspector and was still working full-time.
In 1993, Fred and Jeannette built a new home on Lake Washington, by Dassel. They are members of Dassel Evangelical Covenant Church.
Fred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeannette; children: Terri Jensen (Larry), Susan Palmer (Scott), Michael (Julie), Mark, and Patrick (Debi); 10 grandchildren; three great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons.
Fred was a great husband and father and, for no reason, would surprise Jeannette every now and then with a bouquet of flowers.
He enjoyed fishing and pheasant hunting with his sons and grandsons.
