YoVonne Lydia “Snooks” Card, age 71, of Watertown, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born April 21, 1941, in Watertown, the daughter of Elmer and Louise (Schmidt) Menzel. YoVonne was baptized May 11, 1941, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown by Rev. Rudolph; and confirmed April 3, 1955, at the same church by Rev. Spomer.
A loving mother and grandmother, being with her family meant the world to YoVonne. She loved working in her yard, taking care of the shrubs and flowers and making them beautiful year after year. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors, giving advice to any problem they had to solve, and especially liked going out to eat with her family or friends.
YoVonne had a kind, loving heart, and appreciated the simpler things in life.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.
YoVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Louise Menzel; a brother, Clyde Menzel; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Menzel; and a brother-in-law, Wallace Quaas.
She is survived by her loving family; daughter Vicki (Brian) Dalheimer of Watertown; grandchildren Mitchell, Mackenzie, and Micheal Dalheimer; brother Donnie (Nancy) Menzel of Mayer; sisters Sylvia Quaas of Chaska, and Lois Tesch of Minnetrista; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Tuesday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Randy Sherran officiating. Interment followed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery with military honors provided by the Watertown American Legion Post 121.
There was visitation Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
Casket bearers were Mike Mulcahy, Bryan Mulleady, Craig Medower, Michael McMahon, Jeff Allison, Jason Boll, Brent Hood, and Travis Pogreba.
