Donald G. Danielson, 78

Donald Gerald Danielson, age 78, of Dassel, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Augustana Lakeside Health Care Center in Dassel.

Donald Gerald Danielson, the son of Oscar and Ina (Davis) Danielson, was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Dassel. He grew up and attended school in Dassel. He was baptized as an adult at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church.

Donald was united in marriage to Mary Ann Soderberg May 26, 1956. Together, they made their home in Dassel before moving to Monticello, Minneapolis, and Plymouth, and then moved back to Dassel in 1963. Donald and Mary Ann celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Donald worked as an automobile body repairman for numerous auto dealerships and retired from Village Chevrolet in Wayzata.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and was often the first with a helping hand when needed.

Donald was a hard worker, honest, a perfectionist, and never asked for anything that he hadn’t earned.

He loved his wife and family, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Danielson of Dassel; daughters, Cindy (Bill) Kullberg of Howard Lake, Diane (Robert) Tidwell of Dassel, Lori (Scott) Varland of Dassel, Barb (Nick) Defries of Dassel; three granddaughters, Jill (Brian) Butkus, Kelly (Jordan) Klima, and Kendyl Varland; two step-grandchildren, Katie (Eric) Stachovich, and Natalie Kullberg; three great-grandsons, Anthony Butkus, Luke Butkus, and Jace Klima.

He is also survived by his brother, Richard Danielson of St. Francis; and three sisters-in-law, Joyce Danielson, Nellie Danielson, and Beverly Danielson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Virgil Danielson, Dale Danielson, Ralph Danielson, and Joyce Isakson.

A memorial service took place Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, with the Rev. Steven Olson officiating.

There was a time to gather with the family one hour prior to the service at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
