Cynthia May (Schroeder) Dossett, age 88, of Glencoe, formerly of Lester Prairie, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at the Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care facility.
Cynthia was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, to Fred and Ida (Dehning) Schroeder. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Lester Prairie.
A 1943 graduate of Lester Prairie Public School, Cynthia finished her formal education at St. Cloud State College, earning an elementary teaching degree. She then taught second grade in Janesville, MN for two years.
Cynthia married Neal Dossett July 20, 1948, in Janesville.
Neal and Cynthia moved to Lester Prairie in 1949, where they enjoyed farming until 1980, moving into town in 1999.
Cynthia loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted, playing cards, reading, and gardening. She and Neal also enjoyed traveling, both in the United States and in Europe.
Supporting a variety of charities was also an important part of Cynthia’s life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Dossett; parents Fred and Ida Schroeder; brother-in-law Richard Dossett; sisters-in-law Mildred Wiste and Mary Norenberg; and Mary’s husband, Lester.
Cynthia is survived by two sons, Christopher Dossett (wife Helen) of Lester Prairie, and William Dossett (wife Suzanne) of London, England; grandsons Stephen Dossett (wife Sherri LeSarge) of Brooklyn Center, and Matthew Dossett (wife Nicole) of Rice; great-grandchildren Brett LeSarge, Grant Dossett, Matthew Dossett Jr., and Harley Grace Dossett; as well as other extended family.
A private memorial service will take place at a later date.
