Janet Leona Eckman, age 72, of Kimball, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at her home with her family at her side after a hard fought battle with breast cancer.
Memorial services will take place Monday, March 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kimball Church of Christ with Pastors Jon Albert and Jerry Albert officiating. The urn bearer will be her grandson, Justin Goff. The Positive Peace Makers will serve as honorary pallbearers. Lori Miller, Tracy Bruns, Joyce Albert and the family will provide the music for the service. Burial will follow at the Kimball Cemetery.
Friends called Sunday, March 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church, and visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Monday.

Janet was born March 25, 1940, at home in Maine Prairie Township, to Marvin and Carrie (Vannurden) Stelton.
She graduated from Kimball High School with the class of 1958 and went on to attend Minnesota Bible College in Minneapolis.
Janet was united in marriage to Richard Louis Eckman March 25, 1960, at the Kimball Church of Christ.
Janet was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She also worked for 20 years as a special education para professional at the Kimball Elementary School.
The most important relationship in her life was with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived out her faith as a member of the Church of Christ in Kimball, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and church pianist. She was also active in the Positive Peace Makers quilting group and making cards for the WCO.
Janet enjoyed sewing and needle work, playing the piano, reading, doing puzzles, and playing word games. She was one of the best huggers ever, and was known for her love for her family and her ministry of encouragement.
Janet is survived by her husband, Richard; children and their spouses, Shari and Ed Goff of Maple Lake, Jed and Gay Linn Eckman of Bruce, SD, Penny and Robert Blanchard of Kimball, Melissa and Geff Goodfellow of Bruce, SD, and Faye and Vern Nelson of Cokato; sisters Jeanie and Joe Froehling of Excelsior, Ruthie and Ben Eder of Kimball and Betty Lou Hoeft of Kimball; 18 grandchildren: Adrienne, Justin, Erin, Devin, Dylan, Colton, Kylie, Lane, Weston, Carl, Jace, Cade, Chance, Jake, Carrie, Jubal, Reuben and JennyGrace; eight great-grandchildren: Camden, Ashton, Amelia, Ayden, Paisley, AveryAnn, Jet and Max; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, Ronald Stelton.
