Elizabeth B. Effertz, age 97, of New Germany, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at the Auburn Home in Waconia.
Her funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Paul Schumacher as celebrant of the Mass. There will be visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Winsted.
Elizabeth’s grandsons and great-grandsons will be her casket bearers.

Elizabeth was born April 27, 1916, in Young America, the daughter of Phillip and Ida (Sheron) Braunwarth. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at the Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America.
Elizabeth was united in marriage to Alois Effertz June 10, 1937, at the Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America.
Elizabeth loved to bake and cook, and enjoyed playing cards, especially sheep head. She was a proud member of the Senior Citizens in New Germany.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alois Effertz; parents Ida and Phillip Braunwarth; and siblings and spouses Leonard and Lucille Braunwarth, Phyllis and Jerome Wagner, Henry and LaVern Braunwarth, Joey Braunwarth, and Kathleen and James O’Brian.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving family; sons and daughters-in-law David and Carolyn Effertz of New Germany, and Jim and Bev Effertz of Cologne; grandchildren Jonathan Effertz, Daniel Effertz, Julie and Jeff Clemensen, Holly and Dan Gieseke, and Tracy and Mike Spaude; great-grandchildren Tyler Gieseke, Casey Clemensen, Abby Gieseke, Trevor Spaude, Carter Clemensen, and Camryn Spaude; step-brother Frankie Smith of Texas; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
