Kenneth George Franet, age 64, of Cokato, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at his home with his family and friends at his side, having lost his battle to cancer related to Agent Orange.
He was born Feb. 12, 1949, at Orange Township, NJ, to Kenneth B. and Amelia W. (Muller) Franet.
Ken served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war, and always wanted others to honor all of our service men and women.
He was united in marriage to Victoria Jindra Sept. 12, 1981, in Wabasha, MN.
They made their home in Cokato from 1981 to present, and have three children: Roberta, Matthew, and Amelia.
Kenny operated and owned his own business; Ken Franet Motors.
He enjoyed all aspects of cars, and also fishing, which he shared with his children and grandchildren. Ken always looked forward to his kids’ and grandkids’ activities.
Kenneth is survived by his soulmate and loving wife, Vickie Franet; his greatest joys, his three children: Roberta Franet (Josh Heuer) of Hutchinson, Matthew Franet (Amanda Johnson), and Amelia Franet-Effertz (Billy Effertz), all of Cokato; and grandpa’s treasures, Dylan, Hunter, Tucker, Kenneth, Ava, and a little one on the way.
He is further survived by a sister, Kathy Franet (Dick) of San Diego, CA; a brother, Ted (Barb) Franet of Brooklyn Center; and many extended family members and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Amelia; a niece, Amanda; and his pets.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Community Church of Cokato.
Arrangements were handled by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
