Linda P. Franzen, age 67, of Belle Plaine, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia with her husband and children at her side.
Linda was born March 30, 1946, in Watertown, the daughter of Lambert and Helen (Van Lith) Bukowski. She was baptized at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto.
Linda was united in marriage to John F. Franzen Oct. 11, 1969, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto. Linda and John created their home in Green Isle, where Linda worked with her husband on their dairy farm while raising four children.
Linda enjoyed fishing, baking, reading, music, visiting friends, and playing cards. After the dairy herd was sold, Linda enjoyed working part time at the Hillcrest Café, where she made lifelong friendships.
In 2010, John and Linda purchased a camper and pontoon on Rice Lake in Eden Valley, where the whole family enjoyed meeting for campfires, BBQs, cards, and especially, fishing.
Though Linda didn’t say too much, especially when in a group of people, she loved hearing others joking and poking fun.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Lambert Bukowski; father-in-law Adam Franzen; nephew Todd Ristau; and brother-in-law Joe Faue.
She is survived by her loving family; husband John Franzen; children Kim (Dale) Meierbachtol, Chris Franzen, all of Belle Plaine; Michele (Tim) Berg of Howard Lake, and Sarah (Jeff) Schuetz of Arlington; and grandchildren Adam Meierbachtol (special friend Emily Johnson), and Alyssa Meierbachtol.
Linda is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Susan and Dave Pawlitschek of Frazee, Nancy and George Choban of Rockford, Kathleen Wooland of Arizona, Carol Faue of Albertville, Julie and Sam Zimmermann of Rockford, Joellen Nelson of Buffalo, and Connie and Larry Leuer of Loretto; brothers and sister-in-law Bill Bukowski of Loretto, and Tom Bukowski and Judy Hoppe of Fridley; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Joan and Arnold Nimps of Kasota, Charlotte Blakeborough of Wayzata, Paul and Rosemary Franzen, and Joe Franzen, all of Belle Plaine; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday Oct. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Green Isle with Father Keith Salisbury as celebrant of the Mass. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and continued Wednesday, one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Casket bearers were Dale Meierbachtol, Adam Meierbachtol, Alyssa Meierbachtol, Jeff Schuetz, Tim Berg, Jon Franzen, and Larry Leuer.
