Virginia B. Goede Obituary – 6/8/2013


Virginia B. Goede, age 94, of New Germany, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.

She was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Hollywood Township, the daughter of Jacob and Frances (Ebert) Laumann. Virginia was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.

Virginia was united in marriage to Alfred G. Goede Aug. 29, 1940, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, by the Rev. Theodore Rolf.

A faithful member at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany her entire married life, Virginia belonged to the Ladies Aid and loved going on the different outings with them.

She also loved quilting for her family and her church. She would often make crafts for her family and friends, and enjoyed gardening, canning, baby sitting, and playing cards with her friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; father and mother Jacob and Frances Laumann; sisters and brothers-in-law Marcella and Melvin Kohls, LuVern and Henry Braunwarth, Rose Ann and Alex Gebhardt, and Ellen and Reuben Baumann; and brothers and sisters-in-law Lawrence Laumann, James and Myrtle Laumann, and Edwin and Ethel Laumann.

She is survived by her loving family; sons and daughters-in-law Gene and Cindy Goede of Ramsey, David and Brenda Goede of Waconia; daughter Delidah Hensel of Carver; grandchildren Troy and Kim Goede, Dawn Ellig and fiancé Matt Johnson, Trent Goede, Mark and Missy Goede, Joshua and Maya Goede, Althea Goede, Lincoln Goede, Clayton Goede and fiancée Marissa Hanus, Michelle and Kevin Thompson, Jennifer and Scott Millerbernd, and Angela and Bob Kranz; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Adeline and Bill Harrison of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law Vangie Laumann of Watertown; nieces; nephews; and other relatives, and friends.

The funeral service took place Tuesday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation was Monday, June 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with a chapel service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Tuesday one hour prior to the service at church.

Casket bearers were Troy Goede, Trent Goede, Lincoln Goede, Clayton Goede, Scott Millerbernd, and Bob Kranz.

Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
