Hubert Haekenkamp, 73

Hubert Harold Haekenkamp, age 73, of rural Winsted, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013.

He was born in Winsted Township, McLeod County, the son of Hubert and Eleanore (LaMott) Haekenkamp.

Hubert honorably served his country in the United States Army.

He was joined in holy marriage with Judith A. Peterson June 6, 1959, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. God blessed their marriage with five children.

Hubert was a lifelong farmer in Winsted Township, giving his life to the farm that was in the family for generations. He was a strong, proud family man.

A faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Hubert was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8253. He also was a member of Silver Lake American Legion Post 141, a long time member of the NRA, and was a proud American with strong political beliefs.

Hubert is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judith A. Haekenkamp; children Theresa Eiynck (Corey) of Ramsey, Christine Pouliot of Big Lake, Paul Haekenkamp (Vanessa) of Hutchinson, Jeff Haekenkamp (Bonnie) of Savage, and Machelle Hurd (Randy) of Paynesville; and grandchildren Jessica Hackenmueller (Vince), Nicholas Dahlheimer (Emily), Anthony Dahlheimer (Stacie), Jeremy Pouliot (JaNeen), Jacob Pouliot (Sarah), Timothy Pouliot (Lyndsey), Jesse Johnson (Naomi), Valerie Haekenkamp, Christopher Haekenkamp, Amber Haekenkamp, Cassandra Hurd, Krista Hurd, and Kayla Hurd; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by sibling: Agnes Kautz, Mary Ann Mallak, both of Silver Lake, and Marlys Carlson (Clarence) of Maple Lake; sister in law Maxine Haekenkamp of Winsted; brother-in-law Harold Kegler of Brooklyn Park; sisters in law Bernice Miller of Cokato; Mavis Welch Schillinger of Mesa, AZ, Deannie Navratil of Silver Lake, and Janet Bergerson (Don) of Plymouth; and many other relatives and friends.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert L Haekenkamp and Eleanore (LaMott), a brother, Edwin Haekenkamp; a brother in law, Emil Kautz; a sister, Eleanore Kegler; brothers-in-law Robert Mallak, and Loren Monson; parents-in-law Anton and Elvera Peterson; and brothers and sisters-in-law Marvin Peterson, Betty and Harold Welch, Wilber Miller, Donald Welch, Cub Schillinger, Fern and Floyd Servin, James Navratil, and Yvonne Peterson.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Cassandra Hurd, Christopher Haekenkamp, Amber Haekenkamp, Krista Hurd, and Kayla Hurd were gift bearers. Alice Nowak was the organist for the Mass. Interment with military rites followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Visitation was Sunday, July 7 from 4-8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Monday morning at the funeral home one hour prior to Mass.

Casket bearers were Jeremy Pouliot, Jessica Hackenmueller, Jake Pouliot, Nicholas Dahlheimer, Anthony Dahlheimer, Tim Pouliot, Jesse Johnson, and Valerie Haekenkamp.
