Darrell W. Heuer, 76

Darrell W. Heuer, age 76, of Bonita Springs, FL and Nisswa, MN, formerly of Howard Lake, went to meet his Lord Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

He was born Oct 5, 1936, in Howard Lake, to George and Elaine (Engleman) Heuer.

Darrell and a partner started IMR (a rubber manufacturing company) in 1974, and soon after, Joan became a partner in the business. Their son, Scott was also an important part of this company, and was involved most of those years.

In 1987, looking for a new challenge and opportunity, ProMed (a manufacturer of medical components) was started. With the help of many wonderful employees, both companies were successful, and Darrell and Joan were able to retire in 2003.

They enjoyed their blessed life between their lake home in Nisswa, MN and Bonita Springs, FL. Darrell and Joan knew how fortunate they were to enjoy the “best of both worlds.”

Darrell loved life; he loved the sunshine. He had many good memories of his hunting days with his dad, and later with his son, as well as great memories of moose hunting trips in Canada. After retirement, his golfing cronies and his card buddies were a wonderful part of his life.

Darrell enjoyed each and every day and made the most out of life.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Mary Heuer of Montana; daughter and son-in-law Jill and Dave Winberg of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jan (Rueben) Lehtola, and Mardis (Jerry) Gilmer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Irv (Bev) Hausladen; and many nieces and nephews.

Darrell will be missed by his wife, Joan, his partner in life; as well as his family and friends. He was a special person and loved by many.

A funeral service took place Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, FL. There will also be a memorial service in Minnesota in June.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in loving memory of Darrell W. Heuer.

Arrangements were by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home, in Bonita Springs, FL.
