Eva C. Holmes, 95

Eva C. Holmes, age 95, of Watertown, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Elim Home in Watertown.

She was born Aug. 13, 1917, in Watertown the daughter of Otto F. and Annie A. (Anderson) Carlson. Eva was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown.

She was united in marriage to John L. Holmes June 19, 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown by Rev. Anderson.

Eva was extremely proud of her Swedish heritage and her family. She thoroughly enjoyed baking, cooking, and entertaining friends and family at her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter Carolyn Dahl; parents Otto and Annie Carlson; sister Edna Carlson; and brother Glen Carlson.

Eva is survived by her loving family: children and spouses, Barbara and Russ Jerde of Maple Plain, Jack and Joan Holmes of Elk River, Nancy and John Donahue of Austin, Darrel and Shelley Holmes, and Kevin and Diane Holmes, all of Watertown; son-in-law Bernie Dahl of Winona; and grandchildren Chloe and Cory Capitani, Hilary Holmes, Zoey Holmes, Mark and Robin Jerde, Mitchell and Michelle Jerde, Michael and Rheanna Jerde, Anne and Kevin Rothstein, Tim and Kelly Dahl, Annette and Rod Trachta, Adam and Anna Holmes, Andy and Jackie Holmes, Allison and Russ Risdal, Jennifer and J.T. Hemann, Dan and Janelle Donahue, and Patrick and Ruth Donahue.

She is further survived by 20 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joe and Judy Holmes of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. David Weeks officiating. There was visitation from noon until the time of the service at church. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.

Casket bearers were Mark Jerde, Mitchell Jerde, Adam Holmes, Andrew Holmes, Dan Donahue, Patrick Donahue, Chloe Capitani, Hilary Eva Holmes, Zoey Holmes, and Timothy Dahl.
