Daryl R. Hoof, age 34, of Lester Prairie passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at the Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice House in Chaska, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Daryl was born Dec. 21, 1978 in Duluth, the son of Larry and Jeanette (Pawelk) Hoof.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
Daryl was united in marriage to Dana C. Prehn Aug. 25, 2001 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
Daryl loved being with his family, especially with his children. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and going to the casino.
Daryl attended Lester Prairie High School, where he was a member of the Sports Hall of Fame. He received many awards and was a record holder in baseball at Bethany Lutheran College.
Daryl cherished the time he spent with his friends. He will be missed.
Daryl was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Raymond Hoof and Raymond Pawelk; and Uncle Randy Pawelk.
Daryl is survived by his loving family; wife Dana; children Kya, Brayden, and Colby Hoof; parents Larry and Jeanette Hoof of Lester Prairie; brother and sister-in-law Daryn and Melanie Hoof of Lester Prairie; sister and brother-in-law Lori and Jason Quast of Howard Lake; grandmothers Ruth Hoof of Lester Prairie, Arlys Pawelk of New Germany; mother-in-law and father-in-law Diane and Ralph Prehn of Lester Prairie; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dan Prehn and fiancée Kim Mosiman of Portland, OR; uncles and aunts Lynette and Ronald Tellers of Young America, Donald and LaJean Hoof of Lester Prairie, Shirley Vinkemeier of Chanhassen, Lynette and Richard Buckentin of Hamburg, James and Julienne Hoof of Lester Prairie; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service took place Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with visitation Sunday from 4 to 8 pm and one hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers were Steve Dietel, Chris Bahr, Josh Foust, Derek Zebell, Nick Strei, Mike Zachmann, Adam Wortz, Dan LaMott, Matt Kutz, and Dusty LaMott.
Honorary casket bearers were Daryn Hoof, Dan Prehn, and Jason Quast.
Arrangements were with Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
