David Roy Kahnk, age 64, of Delano, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul.
He was born Jan. 19, 1949, in Tyler, MN, to Donald and Meta (Hammer) Kahnk.
David served in US Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged Nov. 3, 1970, at the rank of SP4.
A 1967 graduate of Delano High School, David was employed at Rego Manufacturing and Landscape Structures over the years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and traveling to the cabin and Lake of the Woods. He also loved to bowl, play pool, go four-wheeling and snowmobiling, and spend time with friends. David was an accomplished cook, and always had time for a game of cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Meta (Hammer) Kahnk; his sister, Donna (Kahnk) Kirchenwitz; and a nephew, Robert Kirchenwitz.
David is survived by his brother, Melvin Kahnk; brother-in-law Ken Kirchenwitz and fiancée Renee Ketcher; nieces and nephew Patricia (Jeffrey) Yantes, Deborah Mannion, Angela (Jeffrey) Templin, Kathy Kirchenwitz and special friend Sean Stafford and her daughter Aurora; and Daniel Kirchenwitz; and great nieces and nephews Kevin, Billy, Graydon, Gracey, and Breana.
Memorial services took place Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano. The Rev. Gale Reitan of Lyndale Lutheran Church officiated.
There was a gathering of family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m., prior to the services at the chapel. Inurnment was in the Delano Public Cemetery.
Honorary bearers were Kevin Yantes, Bill Yantes, Graydon Mannion, Breana Templin, Gracey Templin, and Aurora Hagemeyer.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
