Earl Kalli Obituary – 9/12/2013


Earl Kalli, age 84, of Baxter, and formerly of Maple Lake and Longville, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Cuyuna Medical Center in Crosby.

Graveside services will take place Friday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, near Little Falls.

Earl was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Litchfield, to Hans and Martha (Lamminen) Kalli.

He served with the United States Army in the Korean Conflict, as a corporal.

Earl married the love of his life, Bette Puncochar, Sept. 11, 1954. Following the wedding, the couple took an impromptu honeymoon to Cuba.

Earl and Bette loved to travel, and spent 16 winters in California, Arizona, and Florida.

Earl was also a very avid reader.

He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7664, a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, and attended Community Church of Walker.

Left to cherish his memory are; his wife of 59 years, Bette; children, Kevin, Karin (Rollin Ryan), and Krista (Charles) Kelley, all of California, and Kurt (Laramie) of Longville; three adored grandchildren, Chenin, Alexis and Nathan; a sister, Edith Ailie of Dassel; and many nieces and nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Pete; and a sister, Louella Dandridge.
