Burton Lee Klitzke, age 62, of Glencoe, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at the Hennepin County Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 11, 1951, in Glencoe, the son of Alfred and Lavone (Baumgardt) Klitzke. Burt was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith at St. Matthews Church in Fernando.
He attended Stewart High School and graduated with the class of 1969.
Burt was united in marriage to Shirley Schmidt April 22, 1972, at St. George Catholic Church in Glencoe. This marriage was blessed with two children, Brad and Mandy. Burt and Shirley raised their family in Glencoe, and moved to Darwin in 1998. They shared 41 years of marriage.
Burt spent 42 years in the agriculture industry, working with Glencoe Co-op, Wacker Implement, Mueller Sales & Service, and Jungclaus Implement. He was active in the Glencoe Fire Department, Relief Association, and Knights of Columbus.
Burt’s biggest joys in his life involved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, socializing, telling and playing jokes. He especially cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Burt will always be remembered as someone who was loving and caring.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Klitzke of Darwin; children, Brad Klitzke and his wife Nicole, of Chaska, and Amanda Quist and her husband, Scot, of Cleveland; grandchildren Myah Klitzke, Hailey Klitzke, Owen Quist, and Ella Quist; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Burt was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lavone Klitzke; a sister, Diane; and a brother, Dean.
The funeral service took place Friday, Dec. 20 at Glencoe City Center at 5:30 p.m., preceded by visitation from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
