Leroy A. Kreitlow Obituary – 2/16/2013


Leroy Arthur Kreitlow, age 73, of Buffalo, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born April 10, 1939, in Montrose, the son of LeRoy A. “Roy” and Lillian Nelson Kreitlow Sr.

Leroy honorably served his country in the United States military.

He was formerly employed as a bank teller at Oakley National Bank in Buffalo.

Leroy was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Montrose. He was also a member of Griswold Masonic Lodge 218 in Dassel for 52 years, where he was a Master Mason; and through the years, was an active life member of American Legion Post 270, serving as its finance officer for 15 years.

Community service was very important to Leroy. He served on the Retirement Center of Wright County Board of Directors for 10 years, Buffalo Hospital/Health Central, Board of Directors for 14 years, City of Buffalo, HRA Board for 17 years, Delta Aviation, Inc. as treasurer for 20 years, and Kreidler Cemetery Association, Inc. as treasurer for 15 years.

Leroy is survived by special family members: Diane Folkestad; Amanda Folkestad and Joel (Heather) Folkestad and grandbaby, Ashley Folkestad; Kathryn (Kenny) Schultz and family, Laurie (Duane) Poach and family; a stepsister, Ann (James) McGraw; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepmother, Edna Padden Kreitlow.

Funeral services took place Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Montrose, with the Rev. Cheryl Goode officiating. Interment with military rites followed at Kreidler Cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, Feb. 22 at the church from 4 to 8 p.m., and continued Saturday morning, one hour prior to services at the church.
