Orville D. Krohn Obituary – 9/20/2013


Orville Dale Krohn, age 74, of Brooklyn Park, formerly of Howard Lake, went to be with the Lord Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, after a long fight with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Orv was born Feb. 5, 1939, in Howard Lake, to Walter and Elsie (Reek) Krohn. He was baptized March 12, 1939, and confirmed March 29, 1953, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.

He graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1959.

Orv married LaVerne Bakeberg March 17, 1962, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Brad, Jodi, Mark, and Tami. They lived in Brooklyn Park for most of their 51 years together.

Orv is survived by his loving wife, LaVerne; their children and spouses: Brad and Theresa Krohn, Jodi Krohn, Mark and Kris Krohn, and Tami and John Huber; along with their nine grandchildren: Mitch, Ryan, Eric and Kevin Krohn, Katelyn, Amber, and Zachary Krohn, and Brandon and Cali Huber.

He is further survived by siblings Orlan and Lue Krohn, Deloris and Mark Glessing, Gladys Krohn, and Ralph and Jeanne Krohn; in-laws Donna Boettcher, Bill and Sandy Bakeberg, Tom and Linda Bakeberg, Don and Char Bakeberg, and Roy and Linda Bakeberg; and a host of relatives and friends.

Orv was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elsie Krohn; a brother, Howard Krohn; sister and brother in-law Ardella and Robert Simon; nephew Rick Simon; niece Mary Ann Krohn; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Roy and Alice Bakeberg.

A memorial service took place Saturday, Sept. 28 at 11:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, with Pastor Todd McMurry officiating.
