Kathleen Anne (Murphy) Maier, age 58, of Rockford, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services will take place Monday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Kathleen was born March 22, 1954, in St. Louis, MO, one of four children born to Edwin B. Murphy and Alberta Irene (McGowan) Murphy.
Completing her education to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN), she used her medical knowledge to become a medical insurance underwriter, enjoying a very productive and rewarding career, until cancer forced her to retire.
Kathleen is survived by a son, Ryan Patrick (Katie) Maier of Belle Plaine; a daughter, Allison Lindsey (Brian Howe) Maier of Maplewood; two brothers: Colin James Murphy of Burnsville, and Michael Edwin (Lori) Murphy of Rockford Township; a sister, Linda Murphy (Paul) Anderson of Rockford; two grandchildren, Ainsley and Thaine Maier; and a grand-nephew to be, Cayden.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin B. Murphy, in 1977.
