Judith Kathleen Esther (Olson) Martinson, age 71, of Cokato, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Cokato Manor.
She was born Feb. 8, 1942, in Minneapolis, to Vernie and Irene (Martinson) Olson. Judi grew up on a farm in Stockholm Township, and was baptized and confirmed at the Stockholm Lutheran Church.
She attended the Stockholm country school, and graduated from Cokato High School in 1960.
Judi married Merlin Martinson in 1960, at the Stockholm Lutheran Church. Their 42 years together were blessed with four children: Jackie, Scott, Michelle, and Christina. Merlin, better known as Eager, passed away in 2002.
Judi and Merlin made their home on Brooks Lake, north of Cokato, for quite some time, then lived at Hutchinson, Mesa, AZ, and finally, Dassel.
Judi enjoyed gardening, growing plants and flowers, and traveling in the United States and abroad. Mostly, she loved her family and cooking for them. Anyone who showed up at her kitchen was treated to a cup of coffee and something delicious.
She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a past president of American Legion Auxiliary in Cokato.
In her younger years, Judi worked at 3M, until 1968. She also worked as a daycare provider, landlord, and assistant to Eager in the many endeavors they tackled together. Judi took the opportunity to witness to people about her Christian faith.
