Charles “Chuck” D. Merchant, age 59, of Montrose, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013.
He was born Aug. 18, 1954, in Minneapolis, the son of Charles and Clara E. (Bollmann) Merchant.
Chuck loved to go fishing, watch the Minnesota Twins, and work on puzzles. He had his constant companion, Gizmo, with him all the time.
Chuck thoroughly enjoyed his time working at Coborn’s, seeing a lot of familiar faces.
He was a very loving and thoughtful person, helping out whatever the situation. Chuck’s strength and courage carried him throughout his life with long-term medical issues.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Clara Merchant; and a sister, Debra Jean Merchant.
He is survived by his loving family: brothers Mike Merchant of Big Lake, and Jim (Mary) Merchant of Independence; nephew Michael Merchant; great-niece Dakota Rose Henderson; foster brothers Adam Gerber, Mike Swanson, and Rick Quast; aunts; uncles; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Friday, Dec. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with the Rev. Mike Michalk and Padre Howie Krienke as officiants. There was a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment was in the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Memorial Garden in Mound.
