Dennis D. Michels, age 73, of Norwood Young America, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Cando, ND, the son of Edward and Eleanor (Michels) Galow.
Dennis was united in marriage to Connie Schrupp Aug. 10, 1991.
Dennis loved being around his family and friends. He was a car salesman at Ridgedale Ford for a period of time, and then at Waconia Ford for 28 years. His favorite car was the Ford Thunderbird.
Dennis was a straight-forward type of guy; you always knew where he stood on a subject. He was a fan of western movies, especially if John Wayne was in it.
An avid sports fan, Dennis enjoyed the Vikings, Twins, or whatever sporting event was on TV. He also enjoyed going to the casino, or just playing poker with his friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gregory Dennis Michels; a daughter, Barbara Engelke; a grandson, Shane Loehrs; a brother, Howard Galow: a nephew, Ryan Anderson; and brothers-in-law Ken States and Edward Christopherson.
He is survived by his loving family; wife Connie; children Charlotte (Ronald) Putz of Hutchinson, Donna (Dennis) Loehrs of Waconia, Gary (Dawn) Lang of Forest Lake, Larry Lang and special friend Shanna Rossell of Norwood Young America, Rhonda (Raymond) Sandey of Jordan, Vonda (David) Stohl of Glencoe, Melissa (Jacob) Buesgens of Norwood Young America, Holly Luebke of Green Isle, and Matt Luebke and special friend Vanessa Arneson of Norwood Young America; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Dennis is further survived by his brother and sister-in-law William and Linda Galow of Bisbee, ND; sisters and brother-in-law Bonnie Christopherson and special friend Harlan Jacobson of Bisbee, ND, Wanda States of Bisbee, ND, Rita and Lester Anderson of Bisbee, ND, and Shelly Galow and special friend William LaFrombois of Devils Lake, ND; father-in-law and mother-in-law Maynard and Dorothy Schrupp of Norwood Young America; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Carol and Ron Larson of Grand Rapids, Jean and Jim Johnson of Norwood Young America, Dianne Schrupp of Eden Prairie, and Joan and Larry Cacka of Silver Lake; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A gathering of family and friends took place Friday, Jan. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
Interment was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Waconia.
