Wilton Sture Monson, age 77, of Dassel, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at his home.
A memorial service will take place Monday, April 1 at 4 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, with the Rev. Steven Olson officiating. There will be a time to gather with the family from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
The Johnson Funeral home in Dassel is in charge of the memorial arrangements.
Wilton was born Dec. 15, 1935, on the family farm near Dassel, the son of Sture and Edith (Anderson) Monson.
He grew up on the farm and graduated from Dassel High School in 1954.
Wilton was a lifetime member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel, where he was both baptized and confirmed.
He was united in marriage to Annetta Mae Allen Jan. 4, 1964, in Grand Rapids. The couple made their home on the family farm.
Wilton was employed as a feed truck driver for the Dassel Co-op for 41 years. He was a hard worker and enjoyed farming the land and taking care of his cattle. He also loved to visit with his many friends.
Wilton is survived by his son, Andrew and (Ofelia) Monson of Dassel; six grandchildren, Jose (Renee) Mendoza, Adam (Amy) Monson, Vincent (Ashley) Mendoza, Caroline (Steve) West, Christina (Chad) Anderson, and Shawn Monson; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and his parents.
