Donald F. Navratil, age 80, of Silver Lake, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 25, 1932, in Silver Lake, the son of Frank and Amilia Svoboda Navratil.
Don honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Donald was joined in holy marriage with Christel Wallat Oct. 10, 1959, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo, ND. God blessed their marriage with a son.
Don was employed as a production laborer for 3M for 35 years.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, and also volunteered at both the school and church.
Don was a lifelong member of American Legion Post 141 in Silver Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christel Navratil of Silver Lake; a son, Thomas Lee Navratil of Vancouver, WA; brothers Alvin (Bernice) Navratil of Minnetonka, and Milton (Caroline) Navratil of Silver Lake; a sister-in-law, Margo (Marvin) Iszler of Fargo, ND; and many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant.
There was a time of gathering Monday, Jan. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Honorary bearers were Larry Ardolf, Randy Hlavka, George Lhotka, Roger Lhotka, Virgil Vacek, Cory Fouquette, Ray Bandas Jr., and Larry Lhotka.
