Barbara June Hovey-Nelson, age 47, of Austin, formerly of Maple Plain, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Austin, surrounded by her loving family, after a two-year battle with breast cancer.
A memorial service will take place Tuesday, May 7, at 1 p.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary, 209 Second Avenue NW, Austin, with the Rev. Jeffrey Forbes officiating. There will be visitation prior to the service, beginning at noon. A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Barb was born March 5, 1966. She grew up in Austin, and moved to Maple Plain when she married Jeff Nelson. For 20 loving years, they raised three beautiful children, and shared many special times.
Most recently, Barb was proud to be a spokesperson for Paint the Town Pink.
She will be fondly remembered for her love of fishing, a good iced mocha, playing bingo, and watching the Austin Bruins hockey team.
Barb will be deeply missed by her children, Zachary (Lindsay) Christenson of Maple Plain, Chelsea Nelson of Mound, and Ashley Nelson of Maple Plain; grandchildren Aiden and Gavin Christenson; mother June Hovey of Austin; father George (Pam) Hovey of Rochester; brothers Bob (Martina) Hovey of Champlin, Barry (Cindy) Hovey, Bill Hovey, all of Austin, and Brett Hovey of Eau Claire, WI; step-brothers, Chris (Cresent) Isham, and Chad (Katie) Jabary, all of Rochester; sisters Brenda (Steve) Thein of Austin, and Becky (John) Sheehan of Shakopee; step-sister, Heidi Jabary of Rochester; many nieces and nephews; and special friend Brad Matthews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Nelson; and several grandparents, Adeline and John Hudechek, Ann and Reuben Barth, and Sophia and George Smith.
