Ruth F. Pedersen Obituary – 8/19/2013


Ruth Florence Pedersen, age 93, a long-time resident of Redwood Falls, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Dassel Nursing Home.

Memorial services will take place Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. from Cornerstone Christian Church in Redwood Falls, with burial to follow at the Redwood Falls Cemetery.

There will be visitation at the church Wednesday from 1 until 2 p.m.

Ruth Florence Pedersen was born July 7, 1920, in Stewart, the daughter of Clarence and Adeline Sieckert.

She resided in Clements with her parents until the family moved to Redwood Falls, where she attended grade school and high school.

Ruth married Raymond “Pat” Pedersen Oct. 24, 1940, in Redwood Falls. The couple lived in Morgan for six years, then moved to Redwood Falls, where they spent the rest of their married life.

Following Pat’s death in 2009, Ruth continued to live in Redwood Falls until recently, when she moved to the Dassel Nursing Home following a brief stay in the hospital.

Ruth was employed at FW Woolworth store in Redwood Falls from November 1956 until the store closed in April 1981. She enjoyed working, and found her job interesting and challenging.

As a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church in Redwood Falls, Ruth taught an adult Sunday school class for several years.

She had several hobbies which included decorating their home, sewing, and, in her later years, crocheting. She was also involved and active in Christian Women’s Club for many years.

Ruth is survived by her son, Mike (Kathy) Pedersen of Shakopee; daughter, Sandi (David) Huikko of Dassel; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Pat, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; two brothers; and her son, Larry.
