Rome W. Phillips, age 61, of Buffalo, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
He was born April 22, 1952, in Minneapolis, the son of Maurice A. and Ruth Sigafoos Phillips Jr.
Rome was formerly employed as a material handler in a warehouse for Tennant Company for 30 years.
He enjoyed watching his sons play softball, and the Minnesota Vikings. Family was everything to Rome, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Dean (Kelly) Phillips and Brian (Jamie) Phillips, all of Buffalo, Justin (Tabitha) Phillips of Montrose, Jess (Tricia) Vraspir and Jeremy (Ann) Broking, all of Rockford; love of his life, Rebecca Arradondo; five grandchildren: Paityn, MacKenzie and Jocelyn, and Lucas and Carter; two sisters, Laurie Clement and Madalyn Duffy; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; two sisters; and a brother.
Funeral services took place Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. at Our Father’s Lutheran Church in Rockford. Private interment was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, and continued Tuesday, one hour prior to services at the church.
Honorary casket bearers were Mark Johnson, Steve “Pork” Burkowski, and Bill Clement.
Casket bearers were Dean Phillips, Brian Phillips, Justin Phillips, Jess Vraspir, Jeremy Broking, and Steve Peickert.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
