Alice Prickett, age 98, of Winsted, and formerly of Montrose, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born June 15, 1914, in Howard Lake, the daughter of William and Ida Rice Jones.
Alice and Donald L. Prickett were joined in marriage Sept. 4, 1940, in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with two children, Gary and Rosalie.
Alice was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, needlepoint, and embroidering. She looked forward to having her family together for her Sunday dinners. She loved her soap operas, “Wheel of Fortune,” and her many African violets that filled her home to greet relatives and friends.
Alice looked forward to spring, needing her rhubarb for her baking needs. Her lemon pies were outstanding and everyone’s favorite. She also enjoyed going for drives in the countryside.
She is survived by her children, Gary L. Prickett of Sahuarita, AZ, and Rosalie (Gene) Scherer of Winsted; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and siblings Jennie Taylor, Albert Jones, Della Meehan, Peggy McClay, William Jones, Ida Vealetzek-Farchmin, Mary Hohag, Irene Shanks, and George Jones.
Funeral services took place Wednesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Interment followed at Kreidler Cemetery in rural Montrose.There was visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
