Maria Guadalupe Amaya Ruelas, age 43, of Lester Prairie, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, in a car accident near Norwood Young America.
She was born March 26, 1970, in Apaseo el Alto, Guanajuato, Mexico, the daughter of Ricardo and Amparo (Paredes) Ruelas. Maria grew up and also attended school in Apaseo el Alto.
She moved to Elizabeth City, NC in 1998, where she met Jose, and that same year they moved to Lester Prairie, where they have been ever since. Their union was blessed with four children, Jose Ricardo, Laura Guadalupe, Itzel, and Wilfredo.
Maria was united in marriage to Jose Amaya Jan. 21, 2012, by Father Anthony Stubeda at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Maria worked at Gedney Pickle Company in Chaska.
She was a member at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe.
Maria loved soccer, and was a hardworking woman who was always ready to help others. She especially cherished the time spent with her parents, husband, and children.
Maria is survived by her husband, Jose Wilfredo Amaya of Lester Prairie; children, Jose Ricardo Amaya, Laura Guadalupe Amaya, Itzel Amaya, and Wilfredo Amaya, all of Lester Prairie; her parents, Ricardo and Amparo Ruelas of Lester Prairie; father-in-law Jose Antonio Amaya of Honduras; siblings Angelina Ruelas and her husband, Bazquez, of Lester Prairie, Joel Ruelas and his wife, Ernestina, of Houston, TX, Juana Ruelas and her husband, Salvador Cervantes, of Lester Prairie, Fransico Ruelas of Mexico, Rocio Ruelas and her husband, German Gallardo, and Ricardo Ruelas and his wife, Veronica, all of Lester Prairie; sisters-in-law Maria Amaya, and Norma Amaya, both of Glencoe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many friends.
Maria was preceded in death by her grandparents; an infant daughter, Maria G. Amaya; mother-in-law Maria Murillo; and a niece, Laura Vazquez.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, July 31 at 11 a.m. at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, with interment following at the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery. Father Anthony Stubeda officiated at the Mass, the organist was Sue Mielke, and song leader was Spanish Choir. Musical selections included: “Soy Feliz,” “Cien Ovejas,” “No Podemos Caminar,” “Que Los Angeles Te Lleven Al Paraiso,” and “Entre Tus Manos.”
Casket bearers were Salvador Cervantes, Joel Ruelas, Crispin Vasquez, Hector Vasquez, Antonio Vasquez, and Ricardo Ruelas.
